KAYODE FAYEMI WINS EKITI APC GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARY: Poor Tinubu, Gradual End Of An Empire

Politics in Nigeria is a tough vocation! It took Tinubu to make Buhari President and it has taken Buhari to gradually wrest the Southwest out of Tinubu’s hands into the hands of his own men!

Tinubu's miscalculation was his ignoring of history. Had he not done so, he would have realized that NCNC/NPC and NPP/NPN accords failed because Fulani does not share power -- they suck you in and then dismantle whatever is left of your political arsenal. Awo was a sharper politician than Tinubu, that was why when NCNC abandoned NPC, and the Sarduana desperately sought allies from the South, Awo (from prison) told his aides to  not deal with NPC, hence NPC continued to only settle with the faction of AG led by Akintola. Rumour has it that Akintola was beginning to feel Fulani's political choke hold and was going to ask Fulani to get lost but for the coup.

I am not going to totally fault Tinubu, because he naively thought that Buhari was a different Fulani. The need to remove Jonathan was so high that it made political sense to align with whomever in order to defeat PDP. What no political neophyte knew is that in terms of shrewdness no small/minor/amateur/rookie person, when it comes to political trickery, domination, and evisceration of others, the only way to checkmate Fulani is to oppose them intellectually and be ready to go to war if they bring war...

Igbos were going to put an end to Fulani's political rascality in 1966 until Yoruba and other Nigerians joined Fulani in a cowardly gang up to subdue Igbo. Today, Fulani is dealing with everyone, one after the other and they aren't even started yet.

The above notwithstanding, whatever is the case, Fayose's machine will beat whoever APC fields and such beating will begin the gradual death of APC in Yoruba Nigeria. APC is not a decent party at all; its only bright star was Muhammadu Buhari who, right now, is a dimmed and stained star even though most people did not see those blemishes.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
