OKPARA-UKU OF OROGUN KINGDOM GETS STAFF OF OFFICE…As Governor Okowa Pledges To Respect Tradition, Laws Of The State

The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa said the state government will always adhere and respect the tradition and custom of the people and the laws of the state.
Senator Okowa made the assertion today yesterday while presenting staff of office to His Royal Majesty, Akpojotor Ekpo 1, the Okpara-uku of Orogun Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.
The governor who was represented by the State Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, noted that his administration does not meddle in the selection process of any traditional ruler in the State.
While congratulating the royal father on his ascension to the throne, the governor said the institution of Okpara-uku has great significance for the people of Orogun. He advised the people to strive at all times to promote the sanctity of the stool by according His Royal Majesty, the fullest support, cooperation and respect he truly deserves.
He charged the Royal father, not to shrink on his responsibilities as the chief promoter of the interest of his people.
According to him; As the guardian of the tradition and culture of your people, it is important that you do not give cause for your subjects to doubt your ability to uphold the sanctity of their customs. I appeal to you to imbibe the democratic virtues of dialogue and consultation in all your dealings with the people. The governor said.
The governor while saying that the needs of the Orogun community have been noted assured that their demands will be channelled to the appropriate agencies of government for necessary action.
Earlier, The Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Hon. Godwin Adode, advice the royal father not to meddle into politics but to be a father to all in piloting the affairs of the community.
Hon. Adode, implored the people of Orogun, particularly the youths to channel their energies to purposeful activities and avoid acts that will bring about disunity and cause a breach of the already existing peace in the kingdom.
He assured royal fathers in Ughelli North that his administration will continue to accord them their pride of place in the affairs of the local government.

 The President General of Orogun Kingdom, Olorogun  Benson Ndakara on behalf of the community, expressed appreciation to the governor for official recognition of their monarch, saying that, a staff of office is a symbol of authority and recognition as a king, by the government.
Olorogun Ndakara who use the occasion to laud the governor for including the construct of the Aragba-Ebodeti-Otorho road in the 2018 budget, appealed also for the inclusion of the Orogun general hospital as well as the Orogun-Emevor road.
He noted that the Orogun people as well as Deltona are happy and proud of the governors achievements since the inception of office.
Fielding questions from newsmen, The Eldest Son of the royal father, Mr Isaac Akpojotor, expressed joy over the enthronement of his father as the Opkara-uku of Orogun Kingdom.
Mr Akpojotor, an Engineer, who called on the people of Orogun to support and collaborate with the state government, appealed to the government to bring more dividends of democracy to the community through its SMART agenda.
Also, Former House of Assembly and Rep. Member, Rt. Hon. Akpodiogaga Emeyese, Hon. Samuel Marierie, Ughelli Constituency 1, in the State House of Assembly, Olorogun Dr. Alex Orogun, amongst others, lauded the state governor for his numerous achievements in the state.
They called on the people of Orogun kingdom to support and partner with the state government as well as the royal father so as to attract more dividends of democracy to the kingdom for the benefit of all.
