2018 ANNUAL CONFERENCE INSTITUTE OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT NIGERIA: "Exercise Discipline When Planning" - Dame Okowa

The Wife of Delta State
Governor, Dame Edith Okowa has emphasized the importance of planning and financial
discipline in the management and disbursement of resources.
The First Lady who said this at
the 2018 Annual Conference and General Meeting of the Institute of Strategic
Management Nigeria (ISMN) Delta State Chapter in Asaba explained that planning
without discipline in any field or endeavour would only lead to waste and
failure.

According to her "As
individuals or leaders who are in charge of portfolios, businesses, homes or
even non-governmental organizations we must all exercise discipline and plan
reasonably when it comes to dealing with managing the limited resources that
are available because as a nation we are still facing challenging times
economically".
"As a founder of an
organization that helps the less privileged in the society I understand the
importance of managing resources smartly to get the best result so I implore
that discipline be engaged in order to get the best outcome" she added.

She commended the Institute for
holding the conference which included civil servants, individuals from the
public sector as well as government officials and call for training of
individuals especially youths on how to properly plan and manage resources so
as to become productive.
Delivering the keynote address
titled "Driving And Sustaining Government Projects, Policies And
Programmes To The Grassroots" the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor
on Research and Communications, Innocent Ojefia stated that the best way for
government's impact to be felt in the grassroots was for the people to be
proactive and participate fully, not only on how they are governed, but also in
the development process especially at the community level.
Earlier giving a welcome
address the State Chairman of ISMN Mrs. Uche Okpara stated that the conference
was an opportunity for members of the Institute to share ideas on how to be
more proficient and effective strategists.
