With just weeks to go to the start of the CAA African Senior Athletics Championship Championship, Asaba 2018 which run from 1-5 August in Asaba, the Delta State government is fast at work putting finishing touches for Africa's premier athletics event.

The Okowa led administration is working on presenting a sustainable environmental plan for future event hosting in Delta State starting with t
he athletics event in Asaba.
The State Government's environmental sustainability plan, will be built on the belief that it will help deliver a clean athletics event as well as provide a blueprint for future environmental friendly sports events staged in Delta.

One of the key areas in the environmental sustainability plan is the cleanliness of Asaba and environs and proper waste disposal management before, during and after the championship.

Government plans to fully mobilize the waste management agency and the ministry of environment to arrange for the placement and provision of a sufficient number of waste containers, so that the event and Asaba remains clean from trash.

Staff and officials of government waste management agencies will be at the event venue to pay special attention to the cleanliness of the event area while encouraging visitors and spectators to dispose of waste properly.
Deltans need to cooperate with government to keep our city clean always.
It said that Cleanliness is next to Godliness. ....to be continued.
