The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu
Sa'ad Abubakar has called on youths not to be used for thuggery by disgruntled politicians in
their campaigns.
He made the call during the
closing of Ramadan Tafsir conducted by Sheikh Ahmad Helele at the Kofar Kware
Juma'at Mosque on Tuesday.
"I am calling on our
teaming youths to shun thuggery now that we are approaching electioneering
campaigns," he stated.
The Sultan added, "Don't
allow disgruntled politicians to use you as political thugs by
providing you with drugs and all sort of weapons to attack your own brothers because
of political differences while their own children are schooling abroad. "
He however, advised Nigerians
to get their voters' cards and vote for responsible people who would work for
their betterment, in the next general elections.
The monarch also
admonished scholars to always tell leaders the truth.
