
The 21st African Athletics
Championships in Asaba, Delta State will be a notable one for so many reasons,
as the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) is set to induct a selected
number of Africa’s best athletes in the past decade into her hall of fame.
The Hall of Fame night which will be in form dinner will be held
in Asaba, and will witness a number of Africa’s best legends both past and present grace the occasion.
Some of them include reigning 200m African Record
holder, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, reigning 100m African Record holder,
Olusoji Fasuba, Kenya’s Beatrice Rodeshia among others.
Interestingly,
the Hall of Fame dinner will also serve as an opportunity for the winners of
the Media and Publicity quiz challenge to have a one-on-one meeting with these
world legends, and give them a chance to be part of the Delta State Governor’s
welcome party and dinner.
The
dinner is set to take place on July 31st, while the Championship will begin on
August 1-5th at the reconstructed Stephen Keshi Stadium.
