14-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHO KILLED HER 70-YEAR-OLD MADAM IN EDO

A very young girl has reportedly killed her 70-year-old boss in a community in Edo state, sparking some stir in the area.

A report by Punch Metro shows that the police in Edo State have arrested a 14-year-old home help, Anna Amos, for allegedly killing her 70-year-old boss, Mrs. Helen Adodo, by smashing the septuagenarian’s head with a stone while she was asleep.

It was gathered that the incident happened on August 7 in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the Edo State.

Amos, who was paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, at the state police headquarters in Benin, told Southern City News that she was influenced by “something” to commit the act.

The teenager had earlier told sympathisers that the deceased was murdered by unknown persons.

However, a video clip showed her confessing to the crime in the presence of some residents in the area.

The JSS 2 student of Itohan Girls Grammar School told Southern City News that the aged woman’s head was smashed while she was asleep.

She explained, “As I went to the veranda, something just entered my body. I did not understand what I was doing. I could not wash the plates I was supposed to wash.

“I removed the shoes I was wearing; I felt cold, so I wore a sweater with socks. I started scratching my head. I looked up and down and stood on the stone.

“Later, I entered the room. My Iye (elder woman) was asleep. So, I came out and sat on the stone. I did not know when I carried the stone and hit her on the head and she died.”

Asked why she initially denied having a hand in her boss’ death, the teenager blamed the act on some unknown forces.

She said, “The thing that just entered my body was controlling me. It told me that if I exposed it, it would kill me. It told me that I did well.”

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
