ASABA 2018 AAC: President Of Confederation of African Athletics, Kalkaba Lauds Delta Government, LOC

Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) president, Malboum Kalkaba on Thursday commended the Delta State Government and the Solomon Ogba-led Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for a job well done saying the good memories of Asaba 2018 will stay with all for a long time to come.

“I am delighted that most of the teams had a safe journey back home. For those still in transit, I pray they arrive safely,” the CAA boss said in an email.

“Asaba 2018 was a great championship, we know the memories of great championships leave long and the good memories of Asaba 2018 will leave for long with us.

“The Delta State Government and the LOC has raised a higher bar in our championship with many innovations like the introduction of Delegation Registration Meeting, prize money, transports subsidy for participating countries and many more, we look forward to having another great championship in Algeria in 2020”.

Kalkaba also thanked the Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who he described as a good host. In another message to the LOC, the Technical Director of CAA, Vivian Gungaram also commended the Asaba 2018 Technical Director Yusuf Alli for a job well done.

Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated a 12-member Presidential Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM), tasked with recommending individuals eligible for presidential pardons from criminal convictions. The committee, chaired by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, was inaugurated on Wednesday. It has a four-year tenure and includes members drawn from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as representatives from religious bodies and four eminent Nigerians. GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI APPOINTS OSEJI AS DELTA HEAD OF SERVICE

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has approved the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Minimim Oseji as the new Head of Service. Her appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Reginald Bayoko, who served in the position for nearly nine years. Dr. Oseji, a medical doctor, was previously the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and had also served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health. In 2020, she was elected as the 22nd National President of the Medical Women's Association of Nigeria (MWAN).
