TAMBUWAL WILL REMAIN SPEAKER - APC: Oshiomhole And APC Should Refresh Their Memory(Daily Trust) Oct 29 2014 4:00AM

The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday said it was wrong to ask Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal to quit the speaker’s position simply because he defected to the minority party in the House of Representatives.
APC national publicity secretary Lai Mohammed said, “Those who are saying that the speaker should resign have forgotten history. In 1982 when the NPN and NPP accord broke down, Ume-Ezeoke did not step down as the speaker neither did Wash Pam step down as the deputy president of the Senate.”
Mohammed said also that APC is now in control of the structures of the House as the speaker is now a member of the party.
He said the defection of the speaker is not about the party but about the country which will witness a robust National Assembly with better legislation.
“It is not about the fortunes of the party it is about the fortunes of the country. Now we are going to have more qualitative laws, and this is a man who enjoys support across board so we have a speaker who is accepted on the right and the left,” he said.
