PARTY PRIMARIES: APC Leaders Hold ‘Oshiomole-Must-Go’ Protest

Zamfara State came to a standstill today as aggrieved elected members of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, and their supporters staged a mass protest demanding for the sack of the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adam Oshiomole.

The demonstration which took off from NNPC depot through the Sokoto road and then terminated at the state Secretariat of the party had some commissioners, local government chairmen, women groups and other top party executive members.

The party members were carrying placards with many anti-Oshiomole inscriptions staged the protest to register their anger over the way the national chairman of the party handled its affairs. This comes a day after the party spoke on post-primary issues in the state.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, who fielded questions from journalists at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, said, “We submitted a list of candidates for legislative elections in Zamfara state, if INEC did not take it, it is a different thing. We have a right to submit and INEC has the legal responsibility to receive. INEC cannot disqualify candidates we all know that.

“We have said clearly that whatever claims that INEC is making is not correct or a true representation of what happened, and we will continue to take progressive steps to ensure that INEC does what is right.”
