Christopher
Carl Collins, popularly known as Chris Collins, who is 69-year-old, a
Republican and a member of the U.S Congress has submitted his resignation from
Congress on Monday ahead of an expected guilty plea regarding the impeachment
inquiries of President Donald Trump.
Rep
Collins was accused of leaking confidential information during a phone call
made from the White House. All along, Trump has been desperate to know who
leaked his phone conversation to the whistleblower.
Collins was
the first sitting U.S. Representative to endorse Donald Trump for President of
the United States, and he served on Trump’s presidential transition team.
Unfortunately, he can hardly do without indulging in insider trading because on
August 8, 2018, Collins and his son, Cameron Collins, were arrested by the
Federal Bureau of Investigation and charged with insider trading and making
false statements.
A spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said that Collins’ resignation will take effect next week Tuesday when Congress meets in a brief session.
