To tackle youth restiveness in the country, Mr. Eddy
Ogidi-Gbegbaje, Permanent Secretary Government House and Protocol, has
urged youths to acquire vocational and entrepreneurial skills so as to be self
employed.
The Permanent Secretary made the call on Wednesday,
October 9, 2019, during the send-forth ceremony of the 2018 National Youths
Service Corps (NYSC) Batch C Stream 1 members who served in the Directorate.
According to him as vibrant youths, there is no time to
waste waiting for white-collar jobs, rather acquire vocational skills which
will enable you to become self-sufficient and in turn, become productive members of
society.
There is so much you can offer as there are so many
entrepreneurial and vocational skills to be learnt and with any skill you
acquire you can be rest assured that you will become wealth creators which will
in turn, boost the economy of the state and the nation".
He urged them to desist from crime, which will
have a negative impact on their lives as well as the society adding that
"You should remember that you come from responsible families and your
actions should portray that of a well-behaved person".
Responding on behalf of the corps members Mr. Toki
Anthony thanked the permanent Secretary, management, and staff of the Directorate
for giving them a conducive working environment.
The highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of
gifts to the corp members by top officials of the Directorate.
