AGAIN, POLICE CHASE OUT STAFF, TAKE OVER APC SECRETARIAT

The Nigerian police have chased out the staff of the All Progressives Congress at its national secretariat in Abuja, as they sealed off the office for the second time this week.

Two police patrol vans and two Peugeot 604 cars were stationed at strategic positions around the secretariat by 9am today

According to The Nation, the Inspector General of Police ordered the police action, a few hours to the commencement of the virtual NEC meeting of the party, convened by Victor Giadom.

Victor Giadom, a sacked member of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday got President Muhammadu Buhari’s backing to convene the NEC meeting.

The meeting will hold virtually from the Presidential Villa from 12 noon. The Senator Abiola Ajimobi led NWC has faulted the meeting as illegal. The NWC members said they would not attend the meeting.

Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated a 12-member Presidential Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM), tasked with recommending individuals eligible for presidential pardons from criminal convictions. The committee, chaired by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, was inaugurated on Wednesday. It has a four-year tenure and includes members drawn from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as representatives from religious bodies and four eminent Nigerians. GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI APPOINTS OSEJI AS DELTA HEAD OF SERVICE

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has approved the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Minimim Oseji as the new Head of Service. Her appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Reginald Bayoko, who served in the position for nearly nine years. Dr. Oseji, a medical doctor, was previously the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and had also served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health.
