APC POWER TUSSLE: One Main Reason Why Tinubu Is Unable To Intervene and Why He Is Helpless

alt
Mr. Victor Giadom is gradually getting the attention of the presidency. He has successfully summoned the powerful meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the meeting is being planned to hold on Thursday, barring all unforeseen circumstances.
In the meeting, he might become the substantive national chairman of the APC as he is widely claiming to be now. He was swift to announce himself as the chairman of the party after the affirmation of the suspension of Adams Oshiomole.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is supposed to have fully intervened in the matter and quell the fire of crisis within the APC. He is supposed to give his voice to the issue and make some moves to stop the crisis. However, what we have had so far from Tinubu is his silence. He is yet to pass a comment either to blame or praise any individual or to proffer solutions.
Why can't Tinubu intervene?
Tinubu doesn't have any constitutional power in the APC. He has no role in the constitution of the party. He is not a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) or the Board of Trustees. Tinubu belongs to the mere membership category although he has great power and influence over what happens in the party.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is often referred to as "national leader", but there is no role in the party constitution that makes him a national leader. He signs no paper and doesn't stand for the party as a symbol. The party has the NWC that runs the affairs of the party.
alt
Besides, the main leader of the party is the president, Muhammadu Buhari. Tinubu can't take a step farther than Buhari. The president controls the most powerful organ of the party which is the NEC. Buhari heads the organ. Because of his lack of a constitutional role, Tinubu may not intervene in the current crisis.
Secondly, Bola Ahmed Tinubu always wants Adams Oshiomole as the national chairman of the party. He believes he will easily get the APC presidential ticket in 2022 if Oshiomole remains in power as the national chairman of the ruling party.
Tinubu has never denied having the ambition to be a Nigerian president in 2023. He has been planting his allies to be at key positions so he will enjoy a hitch-free movement to the party ticket. But Oshiomole has been suspended and Tinubu couldn't save Oshiomole. Disappointed, he is now leaving the party to sort out its own crisis.
Lastly, Tinubu has to be very careful with whatever he does now. He has his own ambition and he can't predict how events will unfold in the APC. He doesn't know who will eventually be at the national Secretariat of the APC as the national chairman and head of the NWC.
It will be dangerous now for Tinubu to declare support for a group or faction or to indict any of the political gladiators in the race for the soul of the party. The struggle just began and the wind is blowing, Tinubu can't afford to miscalculate, hence he may not intervene and he may appear helpless in the crisis.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
