SAHARA REPORTERS CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY AGAINST STELLA OKOTETE: A Co-ordinated Pull Her Down Script

The series of blatant lies, gross innuendos, and falsehoods about Hon. Stella Okotete reported by Sahara Reporters in close succession has become the subject of public discussion.

It could have been better not to join in responding to Sahara Reporters. However, a false narrative needs to be corrected to prevent narrators from misleading unsuspecting members of the public.

There is no doubt that fifth columnists are using Sahara reporters as a platform to drag Stella Okotete's hard-earned reputation to odium.

The petition was by Barrister Aare Oladotun Hassan Esq of Juryman Associate Chambers against Stella Erhuvwuoghene Okotete to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over her appointment as Executive Director in charge of Business Development at NEXIM Bank. One of the false claims of the frivolous petition is that she did not attend Benson Idahosa University and as such did not participate in the National Youth Service.

The petition was through a letter no. CB:7000/IGP SEC/AB)/VOL.613/ 312 dated 23/01/2023. The Police action on the petition is dated letter No. CB: 7000/X/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.592/85 dated 03/02/2023. Of note is the fact that the petition was written as far back as January 2023 and it is against her appointment as Executive Director in charge of Business Development at the NEXIM Bank. The police reacted to the petition in February 2023. The question is, why didn’t Sahara reporters act on this matter all along? Why target her now, when the petition in question is not against her appointment as Minister?

There is no doubt that Sahara Reporters is being used by some heavy-weight politicians from Delta State who were hoping and expecting that they would be the ministerial nominees from the State but divinity intervened in the choice of Hon. Stella Okotete. These reports have arisen from malicious envy and the arousal of primitive urges to destroy the good fortune of a young lady.

It is all an attempt to smear the character and good reputation of Hon. Stella Okotete. However most disheartening is the fact that Sahara Reporters is providing a platform to these fifth columnists probably due to pecuniary inducement.

The National Assembly, the Nigerian Police Force, and the Nigerian public should therefore ignore the frivolous petitions against Hon. Stella Okotete as it is the handiwork of vested interests and political desperadoes who don’t want any other person except them to rise politically. The conspirators failed to realize the fact that who God has blessed no man can curse.

It is hoped that the online news media will refrain from continuing on this path of perfidy. Instead, they should embrace the ideals of journalism, which are encapsulated in factual and verifiable reporting.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
