OLU OF WARRI HAILS OBOREVWORI'S BOLD LEADERSHIP IN RESHAPING DELTA'S FUTURE!

The Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, recently shared his candid assessment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration in Delta State. In his remarks, the revered monarch praised the governor for his commitment to peace, infrastructural development, and an inclusive leadership style that is transforming the state. According to him, Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated bold determination to rewrite the history of Delta State, with a sincerity of purpose that is crystal clear.

A Peaceful and Stable Delta State

One of the most significant achievements of Governor Oborevwori’s administration, as highlighted by the Olu of Warri, is the prevailing peace in Delta State. The monarch emphasized that since the governor assumed office in 2023, the state has enjoyed a remarkable level of stability, with no major security crises. This peaceful atmosphere is a critical foundation for sustainable development, allowing the government to implement policies effectively without the hindrance of social unrest.

The Olu of Warri credited this stability to both divine intervention and the cooperation of the people, who have embraced the governor’s vision. The peaceful environment has set the stage for transformative projects across the state, particularly in Warri and its surrounding areas.

Major Developmental Projects in Warri and Beyond

Governor Oborevwori’s tenure has been marked by visible infrastructural progress, especially in Warri, the heart of Delta State’s economic activities. The Olu of Warri pointed to several key projects that demonstrate the governor’s commitment to long-term development.

One such initiative is the extensive drainage project in the Odion area, designed to combat severe flooding during the rainy season. The monarch noted that this development is part of a larger strategy that includes the renovation of the Warri Township Stadium. Recognizing the importance of proper sequencing in infrastructure development, he commended the governor for prioritizing the drainage system before embarking on the stadium overhaul. This approach reflects a well-thought-out plan aimed at achieving lasting results.

Additionally, the Trans-Warri Ode-Itsekiri Road, a crucial infrastructural project inherited by the governor, is nearing completion. This road is expected to open up the riverine areas, facilitating economic growth and expansion. The monarch expressed delight that Governor Oborevwori has not only continued but also accelerated the execution of this project, ensuring its timely completion.

Beyond Warri, the governor’s vision for improving transportation infrastructure is evident in the ongoing work on the road leading to Osubi Airport. The Olu of Warri emphasized the importance of first impressions when people arrive in a city, noting that the upgraded roads and bridges around Osubi will enhance the perception of Warri and Delta State as a whole. This project is expected to have multiplier effects on the region’s economy, boosting investment and tourism.

Governor Oborevwori’s Leadership Style: Humility and Determination

The Olu of Warri provided insight into Governor Oborevwori’s leadership style, describing him as a man of humility and consistency. He noted that despite being in office for two years, the governor has remained level-headed, approachable, and willing to listen to the concerns of his people.

A key strength of Governor Oborevwori, according to the monarch, is his deep understanding of governance, stemming from his experience as a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly. This background has equipped him with the skills to navigate the complexities of government bureaucracy efficiently. The Olu of Warri observed that the governor not only listens but also takes decisive action, ensuring that bureaucratic processes do not hinder development.

His Excellency’s humility, patience, and strategic thinking have enabled him to govern Delta State effectively, despite its complex ethnic and political landscape. The monarch believes that these qualities have contributed significantly to the governor’s success in managing the affairs of the state.

Advice to the Governor: Focus, Humility, and Vision

As a respected traditional ruler, the Olu of Warri also offered words of advice to Governor Oborevwori. He urged the governor to remain humble, attentive, and focused on his mission for Delta State. He acknowledged the inevitable distractions that come with leadership but advised the governor to distinguish between urgent and non-urgent matters, staying committed to his long-term plans.

The monarch expressed confidence that as long as the governor maintains his current approach—avoiding distractions and prioritizing meaningful development—the state will continue to witness progress. He encouraged Governor Oborevwori to trust in his vision, as well as in the support of the people and divine guidance, to bring about the transformation he envisions.

A Vision for Warri: A Global African Metropolis

Looking ahead, the Olu of Warri shared his dream for Warri’s future, envisioning it as a thriving global African metropolis. While the city is widely known for its rich oil and gas reserves, the monarch emphasized the need to diversify its economy. He pointed out untapped opportunities in the blue economy, marine resources, cultural heritage, tourism, and commerce.

The traditional ruler believes that by embracing innovative and unconventional thinking, Warri can unlock its full potential beyond natural resource extraction. He called for unity and a shared vision among stakeholders to propel Warri into a new era of prosperity, where its diverse economic assets are fully harnessed.

Conclusion

The Olu of Warri’s assessment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration paints a picture of a leader who is deeply committed to the progress of Delta State. From ensuring peace and stability to driving infrastructural development and demonstrating exemplary leadership, Governor Oborevwori has set a strong foundation for the state’s future.

With humility, determination, and a clear vision, the governor continues to earn the admiration of key stakeholders, including traditional leaders like the Olu of Warri. As Delta State moves forward, the hope remains that these ongoing efforts will not only uplift Warri and its people but also position the entire state for sustained growth and prosperity.
