OHWOFA COMMENDS GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI, SECURITY AGENCIES, AND ASSEMBLY COLLEAGUES FOR INTERVENTION IN UWHERU HERDSMEN CRISIS
Hon. (Barr.) Spencer Ohwofa, member representing Ughelli North Constituency 2 in the Delta State House of Assembly, has lauded the collaborative efforts of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, security agencies, and legislative stakeholders in addressing the protracted herdsmen attacks plaguing Uwheru Kingdom, his home constituency.
Speaking during a personal explanation at plenary, the APC lawmaker conveyed the gratitude of his constituents to Governor Oborevwori, security agencies—notably the Nigerian Army and Police Force—as well as the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, and fellow lawmakers for their sustained intervention in resolving the crisis.
Ohwofa recounted the years of devastation suffered by Uwheru communities due to herdsmen violence, emphasizing that the government’s recent coordinated response had driven the assailants from farmlands, enabling displaced farmers to resume agricultural activities. He described this development as a "critical turning point" for the socio-economic recovery of the region.
While applauding the progress, the lawmaker urged the state government to sustain its constitutional mandate of safeguarding lives and property, stressing that continued vigilance is essential to prevent resurgence.
"Through the synergy between the Executive, Legislature, and security agencies, Delta State has demonstrated its resolve to protect its people. I implore all stakeholders to remain unwavering in this collective mission," Ohwofa stated.
