Orogun, Delta State – The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli North, Hon. Lucky Ofomukoro, has called on party leaders and members to remain united and work collectively in the interest of the party.

Speaking at the inauguration of the party’s unit executives in Orogun Ward 1, Ofomukoro emphasized the importance of party cohesion and urged members to focus on achieving electoral victory in the upcoming 2027 elections.

“The PDP is solidly preparing to secure victory in all elections come 2027,” he stated, adding that the Oborevwori-led administration has strengthened public confidence in the party due to its remarkable achievements within less than two years in office.

During the event, Hon. Ofomukoro also welcomed defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the PDP, assuring them of equal treatment and full integration into the party’s activities. “You have made the best decision, and you will not regret it because you have embraced the light,” he assured them.

In his remarks, Hon. Sylvester Ovbije, Commissioner representing Ethiope East, Ughelli North, and Urhobos in Patani LGA at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), praised Governor Oborevwori’s administration for surpassing expectations and delivering people-oriented projects.

He called on the people of Orogun and all Deltans to rally behind the M.O.R.E. Agenda, emphasizing that the administration remains committed to transforming Delta State.

Similarly, Hon. Chief George Oyefia, leader of Orogun Ward 1, lauded the governor’s developmental strides, describing him as a prepared leader dedicated to delivering democratic dividends across the state.

“In less than two years, Governor Oborevwori has recorded tremendous successes across various sectors, including road infrastructure, healthcare, education, and human capital development,” Oyefia said, urging party faithful to intensify their support for the administration.

A major highlight of the event was the unanimous passage of a vote of confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his exemplary leadership and commitment to good governance.

The motion was moved by Hon. George Oyefia, Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, and was seconded by Hon. Sylvester Ovbije of DESOPADEC.

The event reaffirmed the PDP’s resolve to strengthen its internal structure and maintain the momentum for future electoral success.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State.
