It is quite amusing how the cordial and productive relationship between Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Tinubu has unsettled some factional opposition observers to the point where they now feel compelled to offer unsolicited advice to the President on who he should associate with. The irony is palpable, no one asked for their counsel. Governor Oborevwori’s growing national profile is a direct result of his commitment to development and good governance, qualities President Tinubu clearly recognizes as progressive and in tune with the nation’s aspirations. It's no surprise, then, that the governor is being rightly described as a progressive leader.

Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of all Deltans through his transformative MORE Agenda. Since assuming office in 2023, Governor Oborevwori has moved with deliberate speed and purpose, focusing on infrastructure renewal, human capital development, and economic expansion.

His leadership has not only brought continuity but also elevated governance with clear, measurable results. Through a people-centred approach, he has proven that the mandate entrusted to him by Deltans was not misplaced.

One of the most striking aspects of his administration is the prioritization of infrastructure development, a notable example is the ongoing construction of the Amachai-Okpanam Road in Oshimili North Local Government Area. This project exemplifies his dedication to sustainable infrastructure, to enhance transportation networks and stimulate economic activity around the State capital upon completion. Additionally, his administration has made remarkable strides in road upgrades, with reports indicating the completion of 317 projects spanning 171.49 kilometers of roads. These efforts not only ensure safer and smoother journeys for Deltans, as seen in his commitment to transformative projects like the construction of three flyover bridges, a cloverleaf, and road expansion in Warri, the state’s commercial hub. By engaging reputable firms such as Julius Berger for these developments, the governor has signaled a shift toward high-quality, lasting infrastructure that will redefine Delta’s economic and social outlook.

Also noteworthy is his commitment to infrastructure development, particularly in difficult and historically neglected riverine areas. The ongoing work on the Trans Warri-Ode-Itsekiri Road and Bridges, as well as the 18.17km Okerenkoko-Pepeama-Kokodiagbene Road in Warri South-West Local Government Area, demonstrate his resolve to connect communities, open up the economy, and promote inclusive development. These projects will not only ease transportation but also stimulate commerce and social integration in oil-producing regions.

Furthermore, the rehabilitation of the 26.61km Ohoro/Bomadi/Gbaregolor Roads reflects the government’s strategic focus on rural-urban connectivity. The creation of the Department of Riverine Infrastructure Development is another innovative step that underscores his long-term commitment to addressing the unique needs of Delta’s water-bound communities.

In the health sector, the Governor has leveraged Delta's award-winning Contributory Health Scheme to expand primary healthcare access in underserved areas. Pregnant women, children under five, and other vulnerable groups now benefit more effectively from healthcare services, particularly in riverine and hard-to-reach communities.

Human capital development also remains a cornerstone of the Oborevwori administration. Investments in education, job creation, and youth empowerment have produced tangible results. Over 254,747 Deltans have been empowered through various skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes, strengthening the informal economy and reducing dependency. His recent address at the 2nd Combined Convocation Ceremony of the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar, highlighted his commitment to uninterrupted academic calendars and improved funding for tertiary institutions.

Equally noteworthy is his administration’s commitment to financial prudence and economic stability. Despite funding massive infrastructure projects and repaying inherited debts, Delta State has remained solvent without borrowing – a testament to Governor Oborevwori’s fiscal discipline and visionary leadership.

In a time of widespread national hardship, Governor Oborevwori continues to show what is possible with purposeful leadership. His accomplishments thus far confirm that Deltans made the right choice in electing him. As he walks the talk every day, building bridges—literally and figuratively—the promise of the MORE Agenda is steadily becoming reality.

Unfortunately, agents of the factional APC in Delta State have made a habit of publicly insulting their own party leaders and senior government officials. Their relentless criticism, devoid of substance, suggests a struggle to reconcile with their diminished relevance rather than a genuine effort to hold the government accountable.

The opposition must rise above its current tactics of misinformation and sensationalism. Governor Oborevwori’s leadership has set a clear path toward progress, and the results are undeniable. Constructive opposition should serve as a catalyst for healthy debate and development, not as a platform for petty grievances and vendettas. As Delta State continues to advance under Oborevwori’s leadership, the people deserve a discourse grounded in facts, not the falsehoods of a floundering faction.
