CHAMPION OF THE IJAW CAUSE: INC Hails Senator Seriake Dickson’s Bold Leadership

The Ijaw National Congress (INC), under the leadership of its President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, has expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, the distinguished Senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly, for his consistent, courageous, and principled defence of the Ijaw nation, particularly amidst recent political and economic challenges.

In a statement issued to the media, Prof. Okaba commended Senator Dickson for once again standing firmly with the Ijaw people, despite visible attempts to intimidate or entice him into compromising his convictions and the collective values of the Ijaw nation, values rooted in justice, equity, and the rule of law. He described the Senator as a true son of Ijawland who remains unwavering in his commitment to the cause.

The INC President also recalled Senator Dickson's bold stance during the political crisis in Rivers State, notably his confrontation with the Senate President and his principled walkout during the vote to affirm an ill-fated emergency rule, acts which, according to Prof. Okaba, underscore the Senator’s deep-rooted commitment to democratic ideals and justice.

Furthermore, the INC lauded Senator Dickson for recently drawing the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the deepening economic hardship in Ijawland and the glaring absence of federal presence and developmental projects in the region. His outspokenness, the statement noted, continues to echo the aspirations of the Ijaw people for a fairer and more inclusive Nigeria.

The Ijaw Nation stands proud of Senator Dickson’s relentless pursuit of justice, equity, and development for the Niger Delta. The INC urges other leaders to emulate his example of principled leadership and uncommon courage in the face of adversity.

Signed:

Prof. Benjamin Okaba

President, Ijaw National Congress (INC)

  1. The ijaw nation is the only heritage we can bequeath our children. That and the proud name that is handed to us by our ancestors.

However, the wealth that is handed to us by God has been stolen directly or indirectly by people who are afraid of our rise.
Yet we rise and shall continue to rise.
    Congratulations our senator.

    Prince Dr.Alayemie-Omu Nonju Ebenezer, MD.
