OSCAR IBRU SPARKS APC UNITY SURGE IN UGHELLI NORTH: Rallies Support for Tinubu and Oborevwori Ahead of 2027

As political momentum begins to gather across Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State took a bold step forward with a powerful unity meeting led by none other than business mogul and respected party stalwart, Olorogun Oscar Ibru. Held at the Oharisi Model Primary School in Ughelli North Local Government Area, the gathering was more than a political event; it was a signal of readiness, strategy, and renewed commitment as the 2027 general elections draw near.

A Strategic Call to Action

The meeting, which drew APC stakeholders, grassroots mobilizers, youth leaders, and loyalists, was convened to reinvigorate the party’s base and forge stronger internal cohesion. Ibru’s presence and message resonated deeply, setting the tone for a campaign anchored on unity, performance, and strategic mobilisation.

“This is no time for disunity or political bickering. It is time to close ranks, set aside personal interests, and support those who have demonstrated a sincere commitment to national and state progress,” Ibru declared.

He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his economic reforms, which, though tough, are laying the groundwork for long-term recovery and growth. Equally, he lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his quiet but impactful transformation across Delta State, especially in infrastructure and youth development.

Oborevwori: A Listening Leader

Ibru, speaking fondly and informally of the Governor as “Sheriff,” described him as a leader who understands both the people and the moment.

The Governor has been outstanding. He is a man of peace, a man of action, and one who listens. I don’t like it when people say he defected. He did what is best for you, for me, and for the future of Delta,”* he emphasised.

His words struck a chord with the audience, reinforcing the sentiment that party lines must sometimes give way to performance and the greater good.

Rallying the Grassroots

Ibru’s message was clear: the APC must double down on grassroots mobilisation, discipline, and unity to secure a sweeping victory in 2027. His endorsement of both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori was firm and unapologetic: Sheriff came prepared for the business of governance. His achievements speak louder than any campaign slogan.”

Local Support, National Vision

Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, echoed Ibru’s call for unity, declaring: “We are consolidating our structures and determined to deliver 85 per cent of Ughelli North votes for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in 2027.”
The event also featured remarks from respected APC leaders, including Olorogun Morrison Olori, Olorogun Terry Noah, Prof. Sam Iboje, Vera Ugbobor, Felix Olokpa, and Olorogun Samuel Akpimegi, President-General of the Ughelli Descendants Union. Each voice reinforced the need for bridge-building and applauded Ibru’s timely intervention.

Looking Ahead to 2027

With the political climate heating up, this unity meeting marks a critical turning point in the APC’s strategy in Delta State. It was more than a gathering; it was a clear signal that the party, under forward-thinking leadership, is preparing not just to compete but to win.

As 2027 approaches, leaders like Olorogun Oscar Ibru are positioning the APC for a campaign grounded in performance, unity, and community-driven engagement. With the right momentum and discipline, the path to victory may be closer than many expect.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
