The North Must Stop Bombing Nigeria and Blaming Jonathan ~ Prof Wole Soyinka.

”If the United states citizens decide to be bombing the USA everyday and ready to die, there is nothing Obama can do about it. The only thing he can do is to urge citizens to report bad people. If citizens refuse to report evil people then there is nothing anyone can do. Here in the USA in Chicago to be precise more than 10 people are killed everyday and that’s the same thing. I am only worried that this is Abuja.  There are people in power in certain parts of the country, leaders, who quite genuinely and authoritativelyhate and cannot tolerate any religion outside their own. When you combine that with the ambitions of a number of people who believe they are divinely endowed to rule the country and who… believe that their religion is above whatever else binds the entire nation together, and somehow the power appears to slip from their hands, then they resort to the most extreme measures. Youths who have been indoctrinated right from infancy can be used, and who h...

Ovie Omo-Agege Trudging on in the Bridge Building Process Across Delta

It is a known fact that Delta is a Peoples’ Democratic Party State, which it can win handily. The All Progressive Congress is praying that the PDP should shoot itself in both feet and destroy its chances. To achieve total victory, it will be political naivety to discount the fact that in the 2015 elections, the People Democratic Party do not just need a candidate who would merely win the governorship election but also one who would help to deny the APC the  votes from Delta central. With his towering stature and his standing in Urhoboland, Ovie Omo-Agege, is in the unique position to appeal to stakeholders in the politics of the senatorial district. He is the man who can achieve the critical goal of reducing the strength of the opposition in the district. For now the APC stands no chance in Delta State but it may consider playing the spoiler game in the senatorial zone.

Saving The Judiciary …

Justice Aloma Mukhtar When, in his work, Don Quixote in England (1734) English Novelist Henry Fielding said, “I am as sober as a judge, he was unconsciously highlighting one of the most important attributes of men and women who sit in judgement over others. With powers as total as  to pronounce death sentence or solitary confinement, a judge must, at all times, embrace solitude as a bride, in weighing facts before him. In carrying out such duty, what should be uppermost is justice. That is why the English Jurist, Lord Gordon Hewart, (IN Court, 1923. In Jackson’s The Chef) insisted, “It is not merely of some importance but is of fundamental importance that Justice should not only be done, but should manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be done”. This expectation had in recent times become a scarce commodity in Nigeria as justice now seems to be exclusive reward of the affluent, high and mighty. It is no secret that corruption had infiltrated the judiciary to such ...

Tinubu appointed his cronies to APC exco –Ikimi

Describing the power the former governor of Lagos State wields in the APC, Ikimi said, “Former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu operated as the core of one of these caucuses whose membership varied from time to time within the realms of his whims and caprice. “We on our part have not yet gained national power so we cannot say for certain what we will do should we win the Presidency but in my projection, from current experiences, indicates a rather frightening prospect. May the good Lord spare us the regime of any tyrant.” Ikimi, a former Foreign Affairs minister, said in statement on his personal letterhead paper on...
