INSIDE THE DELTA STATE ELECTIONS TRIBUNAL AND APC'S REVISIONISM

Sit back to surf through the social media and sort from the maze of commentaries on the day's sittings at the tribunal, whenever the court adjourns the APC is everywhere claiming all manner of advantage. This is hardly reasonable as the media trial and adjudication of the case at the tribunal undertaken by APC hounds is unreasonable, ridiculous, irresponsible and outrageous.

For countless folks here in the State, the ongoing legal firework at the Elections Petition Tribunal is a media 'daily menu' to feast on. The snag is: it is one cooked with faked tension and spiced with exaggerated false reports to mislead them.

Anyone curious to have a firsthand knowledge of what truly transpires in the Tribunal during each sitting should try to be there at sittings. The experience will be enlightening on the real action. The first impression is that APC propagandists are just feeding the people with twisted accounts of what is happening out there.

You will realize that a well-oiled syndicate is perpetually on stand-by, to interpret every process and sitting, doctored to reflect, amplify and spread the APC version of reality.

Little wonder, folks who are nowhere near the court room become authorities and experts at analyzing the pendulum of victory and where it will eventually swing. It could be realized that the APC pliant media fronts are focused on manipulating the proceedings to keep alive their false stream of opinion about the April 11, 2015 elections.

For decency sake, the APC cannot play the double role of complainant and jury in her own case. They brought a petition to the Tribunal, yes. That is legitimate. The questionable and disturbing thing is not allowing the honourable Panel of Judges to do their interpretation of the performance of both prosecution and defense teams in the case and pass judgment.
Already, the APC horde says with facts at the Tribunal so far, we should all return home and prepare for a rerun. In their overblown arrogance, they have already concluded the matter.

An interesting aspect of the judicial proceedings is that the hostility that pervades some social media accounts by the APC is shocking indeed. It is a world apart in contrast to the camaraderie and amity that is prevailing at tribunal sessions. Both defense and plaintiffs legal teams constantly exchange pleasantries, hugs, handshakes and smiles which is normal. It leaves me wondering where the toxic media flicks and outputs are fired from.

APC'S revisionism of events is not limited to the hard-boiled lies dished out as new alerts on the goings-on at the Tribunal, it stems from the inconsistency of their petition. Like a badly written book, the APC continues to revise her protest and prayers in this case. The tribunal is yet to get to the end of the trial of the petition, but APC acolytes will do well to spare us those rulings fashioned according to their bias.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

THE ENDURING LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP: Chief James Ibori Celebrated for His Impact on Delta State

On Friday, May 31st, during the funeral service for the Late Asagba of Asaba, the essence of true leadership was vividly displayed. The service featured the introduction of various dignitaries, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State. Despite having left office seventeen years ago, he continues to be celebrated whenever he attends public functions i...
