URHOBOS ARE DOING BETTER UNDER BUHARI: THE HEIGHT OF SYCOPHANCY

Sometimes, it becomes difficult to know whose conduct is more despicable and injurious to the Nigerian society, the leaders or the led? It was most unfortunate that an otherwise sane, rational and objective person could say publicly and nationally that Urhobos are doing better under Buhari.

This is the height of mindless sycophancy and the worst debasement of a major ethnic nationality. Nothing can be farther from the truth, as Urhobos have occupied more responsible positions both in the Federal Executive Council and the NDDC. They will rise again post Buhari having been brought very low in the Buhari led administration.

No one likes the idea of being classified as a sycophant. Yet without question, there are legions of followers who sing the praises of their paymasters in sickening fashion, all in the hopes of garnering favour and being a part of the in-crowd.

That is the rationale for needless clapping and singing hosannas every time a political appointment is made.

The way and manner some people have been carrying on since a new EDP was appointed for NDDC is grossly misplaced, because people are appointed to offices out of the judgment that they will be able to function and accomplish the duties associated with the office.  Any other alternative perspective to that settled expectation, is irrational and retarded.

The question: is this the first time an Urhobo is appointed into NDDC, the answer is a capital NO! The first and second Managing Directors were Urhobo. An Urhobo was also a Commissioner. That all these positions brought about the development of Urhoboland is uncertain.

That some of these hosanna group are a shameless is no longer debatable to all sensible and rational persons, what perplexes people the most is why they are so shameless, for their shamelessness puts them in the category of lower animals -- they never feel shame. How lowly dishonest bum can they sink?

It may be that during their lifetime, they will not be formally judged as to their culpability or lack of culpability for their acts and omissions but judgement they will definitely get.

While it is okay to earn your living irrespective of your political affiliations that change more constantly than the British weather, it is morally unjustifiable and INSULTING to drag in the mud, the name of a dynamic, resourceful and intelligent fifth largest ethnic group in the country in the game of pleasing paymasters, earning a living or searching for relevance.
