COMMITMENT TO DELIVERING QUALITY SERVICE: BIRTHDAY FELICITATIONS TO GOVERNOR IFEANYI OKOWA

Today is your birthday and my family's simple wish for you is all round success. Me and the rest of the team are lucky enough to have a principal like you. You are such a modest person and we hope that even as you grow old yearly; you will stay the same for us. Thank you for all the inspiration and encouragement you have contributed to us.

Experienced, Hardworking, focused, vibrant and meticulous are few of the numerous adjectives that attempt to describe you. In less than a year, the Ekwueme of the Universe has done an excellent job in interpreting his vision and blueprints for Delta State with clinical precision. The strides recorded so far, despite the continuously dwindling statutory allocation only points out the prospects of sustaining performance in all areas.

With the level of funding the State now receives from the federal government, which has been quite low since you came into office, May 29, 2015, indicate that you have done extremely well and could do much more.

If you have an opportunity to sit with him, you will know that he is a man who has focus. It is certain that God had prepared him over the years and given him capacity. He came here for service; and his direction is very clear. His vision is driving the State to its finest. He is the best we could have for this season. If we did not have someone with experience managing our resources at this critical point of global meltdown, believe me, there would have been serious crises.

He is one governor if asked to account for what he has been given in the last 10, 12 months he would do it with his fingertips. What is on ground is there for people to see.

As for the future, the general opinion is that God helping him, with improved resources, there is the confidence that even the world community would be interested in the development capacity of this man, concerning road infrastructure and others that will bring about the opening up of the area called Delta State.

It is a thing of pride to tell you that it’s been a great pleasure working with you. You are such a great leader and you really deserve a warm greeting on your birthday today.

May you have more years of good times and great accomplishments.  Happy birthday, Your Excellency!

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
