HOW DID AN INCAPACITATED BOKO HARAM KILL 100 SOLDIERS? By George Onmonya Daniel

President Muhammadu Buhari (middle)
For some of us who really know that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari has been lying about Boko Haram being incapacitated, the headlines that Boko Haram killed over 100 Nigerian soldiers is not surprising or shocking. It is a simple confirmation that the truth is coming out and unfortunately through the massacre of Nigerian soldiers by the terrorist organization.

Boko Haram simply changed their tactics and stopped bombing public places indiscriminately. Why? ISIS wasn’t comfortable with the mode of operation of Abubakar Shakau. They wanted him out. Boko Haram was losing the sympathy of some Muslims who sympathized with them by their indiscriminate bombing and Abubakar Shekau wasn’t willing to stop his total madness. That was why he was removed as head of Boko Haram and the coming of the faction.

President Buhari administration is known for quickly claiming everything as an achievement. In an era where there isn’t much to celebrate, anything and everything becomes an achievement, even invitation by the likes of Donald Trump to travel to the United States.

Boko Haram was badly battered by the Goodluck Jonathan administration, shortly before they left power. In fact, the Nigerian government even hired foreign mercenaries to tackle them before the election. They were battered morning day and night by these mercenaries. Shortly after President Buhari took over, his government declared Boko Haram incapacitated and claimed all the credits for destroying Boko Haram. President Buhari supporters quickly made it their song. They made so much noise about defeating Boko Haram that the Nigerian media and social media simply stopped talking about Boko Haram and their subsequent attacks in Maiduguri. Reliable sources from Maiduguri have severally over the years called me to tell me the Buhari government was lying about defeating Boko Haram or the terrorist group being incapacitated. Anytime you try to bring it up the mob that is Buhari supporters on social media accuse you of supporting Boko Haram or being happy over Boko Haram attacks because one hates President Buhari’s government or one was angry over the defeat of Goodluck Jonathan.

The Boko Haram that took the Dapchi girls infront  of the eyes of the security operatives doesn’t look incapacitated. They came to town with the girls and were even cheered by the town. The Nigerian government kept lying that they began to believe their own lies instead of doing serious intelligence work to tackle Boko Haram. The army propaganda officials splash few members of Boko Haram killed in battle or ambushed all over Facebook, telling Nigerians how successful they are annihilating the few remnants of Boko Haram.

When they were busy dishing out propaganda in their fanciful offices in Abuja instead of real military and intelligence work, Boko Haram was recouping.

Today the real picture is out. Over 100 soldiers killed. They were killed because the men and women who run the show from Abuja didn’t do their job. No one would take responsibility for this. It is Nigeria.

Severally the President Buhari administration has claimed that they have taken the army headquarters to Maiduguri to tackle Boko Haram, but we all know the army headquarters is in Abuja.

The fact is that as usual, President Buhari and his people, are playing politics with Boko Haram, and hiding the truth even from the men of the army at the front who pay the ultimate price.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

THE ENDURING LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP: Chief James Ibori Celebrated for His Impact on Delta State

On Friday, May 31st, during the funeral service for the Late Asagba of Asaba, the essence of true leadership was vividly displayed. The service featured the introduction of various dignitaries, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State. Despite having left office seventeen years ago, he continues to be celebrated whenever he attends public functions i...
