FEJIRO AS AN ENEMY OF ONLINE MEDIA

When you read through posts by Oghenedoro Pedro Otega (alias Fejiro Oliver), you can see random insinuations that he is being used by Okowa and Hilary. The question is: does Okowa or Hilary need the assistance of Fejiro to do anything? What would either of them achieve through online attacks by someone that is not a credible source?

There is no doubt that Fejiro is a freelance mercenary and blackmailer, who attacks prominent people to induce them into discussions. Most Deltans know that Fejiro is a born blackmailer. Why should anyone then take him seriously. It is doubtful if he has any particular paymaster, because he attacks anybody, both within and outside government.

It is therefore, also irresponsible for anyone to associate anyone for that matter to any tirade from Fejiro. It is better to respond to him directly than making and casting unnecessary aspersions on innocent persons.

But media owners and journalists need to resist any attempt to be used as mercenaries. Doing so hinders the growth of online media and turns the admiration people ought to have for it into disdain and contempt. A journalist who allows himself or herself to be used as an agent of destruction, is not different from the proverbial goat which aims at destroying the wall but ends up only losing its fur.
The power of the media as a constructive and destructive force cannot be underestimated. Hence the use of that power ought to be geared towards the desire and willingness to ensure that the right things are done in the country.
Towards that end, the core mandate of the online media should be directed at working to sustain the peace and unity of this State and country. Fejiro and others like him, should retrace their steps and work towards the restoration of oneness, respect for one another and the common purpose of national development

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
