AMAECHI TACKLES JONATHAN, SAYS FORMER PRESIDENT FAILED IGBO PEOPLE

What did he expect Jonathan to have done, do what Buhari is doing by the lopsided appointments? This is what is killing Nigeria. Perhaps Amaechi had expected Jonathan to have appoint more Igbos to office than he did to have made Igbos feel the kind of impact being talked about – what an arrant fall guy.

Amechi's comment is uncalled for and patently disrespectful to former president Jonathan. Chibuike Amechi’s politics is perplexing because he does not apply tact into it, he just practices raw politics which does not make a statesman. only lasts not long for a political career. Amaechi's success in politics so far has been due to the grace of God and godfather-ism (of Odili); the later give him the foothold that has carried him so far.

Chibuike Amaechi could be president of Nigeria if he would refine his political operational method. To start with, he should be less vindictive, less combative, and not too direct. He should learn to use metaphors and adages to deliver certain messages. He almost ruined any chances of him getting elected again to anything in the SS with his raw cancellation of the Maritime University; he should thank Ibe Kachukwu for bailing him out. What he said -- that too much money had been expended on procuring land alone for the university -- made a lot of sense but his manner of saying it was chastising of the people and vindictive to them too.

What he said about former president Jonathan is likely true but his method of saying it is unacceptable to those who still support the former president. Amaechi could have delivered this same message without the combative and indicting mode with which he did it -- he lost Jonathanists with that tone. Whether he accepts it or not, the SE&SS is still Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's country, so it is not possible for any politician to dislodge him from owning those areas through bad mouthing and uncalled-for confrontations.

From now on, Chibuike Amaechi should map out a mature political system through which to make himself the political lord of the SE&SS. Now that he has gone national, luck alone is not going to get him anywhere -- Odili could have made anybody Speaker of the House of Assembly and later governor in small Rivers State; that cannot happen at the Federal level where Awusa and Yoruba are bent on stopping every move of his.

He should know this, because presidential candidate Buhari wanted him as running mate but Yoruba said over their dead body, hence Osinbajo was fielded. President-elect Buhari wanted him as his chief of staff but the Awusa cabal said over their dead body, hence that man, whose name I don't want to mention, is occupying Amaechi's seat.

Right now, Yoruba and Awusa are expecting him to produce something electorally, but he is not going to accomplish that by badmouthing Jonathan in the SE&SS. Amaechi should leave unnecessary confrontations, directness, and vindictive utterances to those of us outside of the political arena.

He should play pure politics, which is winning over people through making nice statements, even if hypocritically. If he does not produce results in the SE&SS at the next election, Awusa and Yoruba overlords of APC will kick him to the curb, especially now that president Buhari who likes him seems to be gradually exiting the political arena.

If I didn't like Amaechi, I would not be saying this -- something I should get paid for saying. He'd better pay attention to this free advice.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

THE ENDURING LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP: Chief James Ibori Celebrated for His Impact on Delta State

On Friday, May 31st, during the funeral service for the Late Asagba of Asaba, the essence of true leadership was vividly displayed. The service featured the introduction of various dignitaries, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State. Despite having left office seventeen years ago, he continues to be celebrated whenever he attends public functions i...
