IPOB's method will always attract repercussions, like
the untimely deaths of our youths in confrontation with law enforcement agencies
or the type of declaration by Arewa youths.
It is unfortunate that anybody can just wake up one day and yell
Biafra, and just like that he acquires some following and starts issuing orders
to Igbo people left and right without anyone challenging him.
The Buhari administration should be condemned for
arresting, locking up, and refusing bail to Nnamdi Keanu, this has been
misconstrued by most people in the South east as endorsing his uncouth
utterances and mindless agitation for Biafra without a single Dane gun in his
possession. If people want Biafra, it is not going to be achieved in the
loutish, childish, and thuggish manner with which Kanu and his gang are going
about it.
On the other hand, Igbo elders dropped the ball in not calling
this boy to order when he began that foolish stay at home order. Igbo governors
should be given 6 lashes of the cane for allowing this small boy born after
Biafra to institute and execute the stay at home policy in their collective
domains -- the Nigerian State should reprimand them for failing their oaths of
office of defending Nigeria. In pursuit of Biafra, East is not yet at the point
of confronting the Nigerian State as is being done by IPOB.
It is also embarrassing for most Igbo Diaspora folks who are going along with Kanu and his childish IPOB. It is puzzling that Igbo educated folks, even those in the Diaspora, are going along with IPOB's recklessness without even pausing to asking, 'who is this Kanu, who is his father?', as Igbo culture demands. Even Igbo elected governors have been cowed into capitulating to this small boy who was born after Biafra and not elected to anything by anybody.
While it is necessary to reject the childish utterances of the Arewa
youths, we should nevertheless understand that IPOB's thuggish menacing is
capable of eliciting such a response. Ndi Igbo must wake up today and ask Kanu
and his gang to take a hike. Those who put up the bail for him should ask him
to calm down or approach the court to withdraw their bonds -- assuming that the
court does not revoke his bail soonest.
