PARTISAN SUPPORTERS ARE BUHARI'S ALBATROSS

President Buhari's worst enemies are the people who make stupid and childish excuses for the shortcomings of his presidency. No reasonable person would not expect any administration to err here and there occasionally, but what we see from supporters is this stupid penchant for lowering the standard for Buhari, thereby making him a borderline leader unexpected to accomplishing anything. Even when there is nothing, they sing High Praises.

This presidency of Buhari's has bettered the Jonathan presidency in being clueless, thanks to the fanatics who conjure up stupid excuses after stupid excuses for it. Under this presidency, as pointed out by pastor Joe, no election, however minimal, has been conducted professionally -- all have been inconclusive, delayed, or marred by some levels of violence at one stage or the other. Yet this is an administration headed by a man who suffered various election malpractices and is purported to be disciplined and honest, and as such, would not brook any of these malfeasance as president.

Under what circumstance would any person who is not a thief excuse the postponing of the Edo gubernatorial election? Anyone who has taken even a single course on management (whether at the lower or highest levels) knows that not following through with plans is an inescapable recipe for failure, and or is a mark of indiscipline. Everybody in Nigeria knew, four years ago, that another gubernatorial election would be held this month in Edo state. To not hold this election at an already set date is a negative blot on Buhari's presidency.

President Jonathan who, in retrospect, was erroneously dubbed clueless held elections in the NE, where Boko Haram's flags flew through its occupation of some LGAs, yet president Buhari cannot hold his second gubernatorial election in a peaceful Edo state? His first held gubernatorial election (in Bayelsa state) was a disgraceful disaster that not only took lives and property but was also inclusive. This Edo election would have been president Buhari's walking of the walk, over his 12 years talking of the talk over election integrity; it would have given him the opportunity to clear the skepticism of those who have been puzzled by the almost permanency of inconclusiveness of elections under his watch. Alas, that's not going to happen! As disgraceful and incompetency-depicting as this really is, some folks still exhibit the brazenness of making excuses for it, thereby telling us Nigerians that performing way below the performance Jonathan's presidency is now Nigeria's new norm?

Under president Jonathan, various gubernatorial elections were held, a reasonable number of them lost by his ruling PDP. What that tells any reasonable person is that, if PDP rigged any elections, it was to prevent losing in places it was supposed to win, else it would not have lost any elections -- Mimicko won in Ondo, Oshiomhole won in Edo, Aregbeshola won in Osun, Obi and Obiano won in Anambara, etc. Were PDP this behemoth of rigging, these other parties would not have prevailed in non-general elections as was the case under Jonathan; it also tells reasonable people that PDP could have rigged to retain the Jonathan presidency if overboard and across the board rigging were its mode of operation.

Reasonable Nigerians would not have come to this realization had the APC administration of Buhari's not bettered Jonathan's PDP administration in incompetence, being clueless, and in being mired election malpractices (as in Imo state). One can also deduce, from the shenanigans going of conducting elections under Buhari's leadership, that an incumbent president Buhari would not have lost to a candidate Jonathan.

The above is a sad commentary about Nigeria; about Nigerians; and about president Buhari's ability and capability, for most of us had put our trust in salvaging Nigeria in his hands. Unless he disowns these ass holes who are making him appear clueless, through their sycophantic excuse-making for him, history will be more dignifying of a once president Jonathan than of a once military Head of state and later civilian president Muhammadu Buhari. As for the partisan supporters, I say to hell with them; they cannot stop me from airing my views and if they curse at me, as is their only intelligence capability, I will curse them back ten folds. Nigerians must not keep silent because of supporters' irrationality and crudity. The gubernatorial election in Edo state should have gone on as scheduled; its postponement speaks negatively on this president's legacy.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
