DELTA 2015: A VOTE FOR SENATOR IFEANYI OKOWA, A VOTE FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE

Let us come back home now, because the Presidential and national assembly elections are over and gone. For Governorship, we have to deliver at all levels in the State.

For Delta State to take its rightful place and be more relevant in today’s world it needs experienced, bold, inspiring and visionary leadership and Senator Okowa is the key to such leadership. Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa knows the best techniques and means of empowering the youth and women, including creating of jobs and attracting investments to the State.

With Senator Okowa, Delta State would have chosen a leader who will place people over his personal needs. In this world, to be competitive in all aspects, it demands radical socio-economic transformation and Senator Okowa with knowledge gathered in public service will usher in the economic change we desire.

Delta State needs a leader that has a vision for the State; one that can inspire the people, and one that can be bold in the management of the State’s resources.

We must elect people who have a passion and commitment for rapid development, including the well-being of the people. The delivery of this kind of government is Senator Okowa’s vision. Senator Okowa’s Government will be confident, assertive, innovative and committed to promoting and defending the interest of the people.

We may have the oil and other natural resources, but he will place more emphasis on developing the human resource of the State, instead of just focusing on the natural resources. Senator Okowa knows that the people’s interest and development must be placed above our politics and natural resources.

Above all, Senator Okowa is prepared to seek solutions from within, and adopt the philosophies and practices that will deal with the various challenges that the State face and develop ideas to propel our State towards the best that it deserves, and not just the better.’ He will operate an open government that has integrity in its actions and is really good at managing its information.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
