ONE YEAR AFTER: IT'S ALL JONATHAN'S FAULT, CAN'T FLY AGAIN

A man had just concluded his transaction at a market in Abuja, paid for the consumables he bought at scandalously high prices and was expecting his change. Sensing that the seller who collected his money was not paying attention, he repeated: “I said you should give me my change.”
At that point, the man looked at him and replied: “I heard you the first time but let me offer you one piece of advice: In this market, you ask for the balance of your money, not change. We don’t want to hear that word again in this market. Last year, we voted for change but see where it has landed us!” - OLUSEGUN ADENIYI
The word "Change" has been changed (no pun intended) to "Chains" in some circles in Nigeria.  So there is no surprise there.  The thing is of all the past HOS and ex-Presidents, the one most resistant to change is this president.
That's the irony of the whole change propaganda.  Granted that people do change, but this president is so set in his ways that there is no "give" in any direction.  How he let the Nigerian economy run away from him in such a short time is inexplicable, but we are here now--no more hypotheses--he must show what he can do.
It's all Jonathan's fault, can't fly again.  Buhari is in the driver's seat, he must drive.  I don't see how the Nigeria gets turned around, unless oil skyrockets to 120 a barrel.  Can't think of anything Nigeria can develop immediately and gain comparative advantage in the world market.
That oil finished us off.  Mass rural-urban migration removed us from competitive agriculture.  Except for the North, Nigeria probably can't feed itself.  We make nothing, sell nothing, just chop and spray money--that's what we are--ostentatious prodigal consumers.
All the people who stole the money in the past behave like sailors on shore-leave, they invested in nothing.  Just jack the money and stash overseas, now everything has come due; mud has hit the fan, got to pay the piper.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
