FALL OUT FROM #BBN: NIGERIA WILL BE BETTER IF WE PUT ENERGY IN GENERAL ELECTIONS

5 Real Facts about Efe
My surprise with most Nigerians has been that, rather than work to vote in the best for the country, we keep wailing over bad leadership and bad politicians, while allowing ourselves to be victims.
However, the most interesting lesson from the just concluded Big Brother Nigeria reality show is the fact that Nigerians are not as docile as we portray ourselves to be. It is obvious that the people mobilized and voted for Efe, which meant that they knew exactly what they wanted, they went for it and they got it.
Democracy itself and ideas of popular sovereignty and natural rights are considered a "myth" excerpt the people are conscious enough to be part of the process, the first step is mobilizing to vote for those they trust and the second step is to monitor them in offices.

From what has transpired in that last few weeks shows that Nigeria would be in a better shape if the citizens show interest in elections in the same manner as they have shown in the Big Brother Naija competition. The overwhelming victory of Efe Ejeba in the Big Brother Naija reality show was based on mass mobilization, which could be extended to party politics.
Politics and government are the areas that are most responsible for providing the opportunities for us to experience effectively and fully the development of our own human potential. Once we have the institutions of government well-established and on proper grounds, a lot of the other issues will fall into place.
It therefore means that if Nigerians, especially the youths put in half as much interest and energy as they did in #bigbrothernaija2017, into those we elect into public offices, Nigeria would be a much better place, governed by people of our choice.

It is time to recover the country from the scoundrels.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
