Oteri-Ughelli was agog today as the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa led prominent Deltans from far and near to the remembrance thanksgiving for Mr. William Agadioma, father of Secretary to the Delta State government, Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas.

The occasion, which attracted eminent Deltans from all works of life was a political carnival. Those present included the former governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, the Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly, members of the State Exco, top government functionaries, State PDP officials led by the Chairman and traditional rulers.Image may contain: 1 person, standing

In his very brief remarks, Governor Okowa noted that despite passing on early, Mr. Agadioma no doubt laid a good foundation for his children, the result we see in them today. On the economic front, Governor Okowa emphasized that these are very difficult times and not the best of time to be a Governor but to assume that would amount to questioning God. Stressing that the good Lord has a reason for allowing him to be the Governor of the State at this time. He assured that things would get better.

The governor pointed out that every Deltan has a role to play in making the State a better place. In response to the call by the catholic church for the repair of the bad spot by the Mosogar bridge on the Benin/Warri federal highway, the Governor assured that the State government would fix it despite being a federal road. He also assured Deltans that everything is being done to reposition the State Teaching Hospital, Oghara.

Rt. Hon. Festus Agas, the eldest son of Mr. William Agadioma, in his vote of thanks, noted that his father passed on when he was only a teenager, age 17 and from then on, he became the head of his nuclear family. He thanked God for his grace and thanked everyone for their presence, with special gratitude to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his lovely wife, Mrs Kevwe Agas.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
