WHY PDP IS NOT BOTHERED ABOUT RE-RUN

Udom Gabriel Emmanuel
The Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, has ordered a re-run in 18 out of the 31 local government areas in the State. Till the full text of judgement is seen, a section insists the court said the re-run is in some units in the18 LGAs since it clearly said so.

INEC declared PDP candidate; Udom Gabriel Emmanuel winner polling a total of 996,071 votes from the 31 Local Government Areas in the State.

APC candidate; Umana Okon Umana polled 89,865 votes from the same 31 Local Government Areas in the State.

The APC candidate was not satisfied with the outcome, hence his petition before the Akwa Ibom Elections Petition Tribunal challenging the emergence of the PDP candidate.

After submissions from all parties involved in the case, the Tribunal Judge upheld elections in 13 Local Government Areas of the State, calling for a re-run in 18.

From the judgement, the PDP candidate (and currently the Governor of the State) Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel was still declared winner with the highest number of valid votes cast from these 13 LGAs defeating his closest rival and APC candidate, Mr. Umana Okon Umana.

From the 13 LGAs:
Udom G. Emmanuel (PDP) has polled a total of 495,204 valid votes cast while Mr. Umana O. Umana (APC) polled a total of 37,572 valid votes cast. That is why Udom is still Governor.

From the 18 LGAs that a re-run has been ordered, there are a total number of 561,604 accredited voters.

The APC candidate, Obong Umana Umana needs to poll at least 520,000 votes out of the 561,604 from these 18 LGAs to defeat the PDP candidate. This is clearly impossible.

Going by the prevailing circumstance, now look at this. PDP is strong in Ibiono Ibom, Eket, Onna, Ibeno, Oruk Anam, Etim Ekpo, Ikono, Ini, Ikot Abasi, Nsit Ibom (10 LGAs). Thats being very charitable to the APC.

APC has a fair chance in Nsit Ubium, Udung Uko, Nsit Atai, Uruan, Uyo (5 LGAs). That's being very charitable too. Etinan, Itu and Ibesikpo Asutan (3 LGAs) can be considered neutral grounds.

Meanwhile, 1. All the 18 LGAs spans across the 3 Senatorial District, 9 out of 10 Federal Constituencies and about 13 out of 26 State Constituency of the State

2. The 3 Senators are from the PDP

3. The 9 Federal Legislators are from the PDP

4. The 13 State Legislators are from the PDP

5. They all won their cases at the Elections Petition Tribunal.

Even if security officials come from Abuja at the instance of the APC and tie up all our hands, Umana Umana cannot poll 520,000 votes out of the 561,604 and meanwhile he still needs 25% of votes in 24 LGAs to be Governor. It appears he has not exhausted his stoke pile of cash. He can continue spending it. Who cares? While Governor Udom Emmanuel who has the mandate of the people concentrates on the task of making Akwa Ibom State a better place

No one is greater than God
