"OH AKPABIO" …Fallibility Of Mortal Man – By E.A. Uzum

Democracy has remained consistently on trial in Nigeria.  Before I venture into the nexus of Party Politics, Defections etc I want to take a quick look at GEJ's statements....during the run off of 2015 Presidential elections.
"That we have a choice between old ways and new ways, going forward and retrogression, repression, impunity and rule of law"
GEJ also told us that we will remember him when he is gone.  He capped by saying "My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian"
Today same prophecy has come to pass.  We seen repression of the highest order in the history of Nigeria.  We live with Despotism, Nepotism and desperate hang on to power even at the cost of sacrificing our most revered democratic institution which is the National Assembly.

Akpabio's defection today in Ikot kpene is democratically right.  Goodswill Akpabio our former part man has right to pitch tent anywhere within registered political parties in Nigeria but sure his action is devoid of idealism, conscience, leadership and most importantly content.
Having served as commisioner for local Govt in Akwa Ibom, Gov for eight years and now a Senator under same party and platform, he managed and mismanaged PDP.
That he dumped PDP is not the issue but castigating same party he held for 16yrs, ruled as Gov with barrage of lies and shamelessly dancing to boost his flattened ego is demeaning. This is the throwup of a failed presidential system of Govt.  Reuters has it that Akpabio was sampled with documents of his alleged sleaze, threatened with EFCC and that was all.
The critical issue was that he went into APC under duress and undue influence. Moreso what fell off his lips, his shameful dance and irritating actions in the podium eroded the last honour left in him as a human being.
I am sure the APC Senators present knew that it was a show of shame.  Akpabio Mr uncommon cannot be taken seriously.  Akpabio indicted himself before man and God.  Oshiomhole said PDP stole Akwa  Ibom dry for 16yrs.... But under whose watch.
This is where  idealism died.  Desperation, Political threat,  and muscling pushed Mr Uncommon off the cliff.
Akpabio deserves our sympathy cos yesterday was a quasi burial of Akpabiology which was an integral ideology.
The youths of Nigeria must see beyond the daily acts and scenes of Nigeria's polity and brace up knowing full well that it's all about the interest of the proletariats.  More bubbles will be burst but we hope at the end of it all, Nigerians will learn from this indecent exposure hoping that it will as well create the much needed political ideology amidst  the trenches that we find ourselves as a Nation.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

Faith Majemite; and other governors elected on the APC platform. The recently reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, who recently defecte...

THE ENDURING LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP: Chief James Ibori Celebrated for His Impact on Delta State

On Friday, May 31st, during the funeral service for the Late Asagba of Asaba, the essence of true leadership was vividly displayed. The service featured the introduction of various dignitaries, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State. Despite having left office seventeen years ago, he continues to be celebrated whenever he attends public functions i...
