DELTA 2015: Why do Deltans Think Tony Chucks Obuh Is The Best Candidate?

It is not because of his qualification. It is about Tony Obuh in person.  Deltans have had the singular privilege to interact with all the aspirants coming out to succeed Governor Uduaghan. They know their pedigree and what they will bring to the table.

Deltans have had the singular honour and privilege to interact with Tony Chucks Obuh. He is such an intelligent and focused man. The foundation has been laid. A State run by Tony Obuh will be an investor’s haven. He will turn this place into an economic hub for West Africa. He has the connections and the capacity to move the State forward. The Dubai we always refer to have nothing. It is a desert, very little oil. The money you see in Dubai is investor’s money. Investors only go to a place where they trust quality leadership.

One day Tony Obuh was asked, where do you see this State in 8 years, it took almost 3 hours before he could finish that interaction. Two things were striking; first he said he was concerned about youth employment. He said if care is not taken all the good things Governor Uduaghan has worked for will become beneficial to the foreigners. We need to have statistics of our people, when they left school, what they are doing now and all that. So that we know exactly where our people can fit into and where necessary be sent on short training to have requisite capacity.

He now added this other point and it was also striking that he will not send them to America or United Kingdom because they may not return but he will send them to the best schools in South America and Eastern Europe knowing that they will return. That is a man that has seen the problem, thought through how it will be done for it to be effective. All the people we sent to the United Kingdom, none has returned. Tony Obuh has the capacity, the pedigree and the heart to accomplish goals.

We should maintain our calm. We have a good product to sell in the person of Tony Obuh. We should eschew violence. God bless Delta State.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
