More
revelations have emerged from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) on how the former chairman of the NIA Presidential Panel, Ambassador
Babagana Kingibe received the sum of two million US dollars ($2,000,000)
against his name from the National Intelligence Agency coffers.
This
was part of the findings of the Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu when he
submitted the preliminary reports to President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday.
Sources
at the EFCC said during the interrogations of the two former Acting
Director-Generals, Ambassadors Arab Yedam and Mohammed Dauda, it was
discovered that Kingibe received the funds while he was the head of the
panel.
The
team of EFCC investigators are still working round the clock to unravel the
levels of pressure and coercion to financially service Kingibe and his team.
The
pressure and subsequent removals of the two officials paved the way for the
appointment of Ahmad Rufai Abubakar who served as the panels Secretary as
substantive director-general.
EFCC
investigators have also established that Ahmad Rufai Abubakar has confirmed
receiving undisclosed sum from the NIA vaults during the panel sitting.
Investigation is still on.
