DELTA 2015: SENATOR IFEANYI OKOWA – AN ASSET FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE

Honesty is the channel of truth between the soul and the mind. Those who nurture it are imbued with enormous power: the power to see, the power to know, the power to differentiate, the power to reflect, the power to choose, the power to speak the truth, and ultimately the power to grow. Dishonesty is never the way to authentic power. Dishonesty leads to less real power.

For Delta State to take its rightful place and be more relevant in today’s world, it needs bold, inspiring and visionary leadership, devoid of cronyism, and Senator Okowa is the key to such leadership. Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa stands for honest, trustworthy, scrupulous, conscientious, high-principled, Selfless, contentment, honourable, upright, upstanding, high-minded, righteous, right-minded, moral, ethical, virtuous, just, noble, respectable, decent and all above prudent.

With Senator Okowa, Delta State will have chosen a leader who is not perfidious, and who will place people over his personal needs. In this world, to be competitive in all aspects, it demands radical socio-economic transformation and Senator Okowa with knowledge gathered in this field will usher in the economic change.

Delta State needs a leader that has a vision for the State; one that can inspire the people, and one that can be bold to fight mismanagement of the State’s resources, cronyism and recklessness in governance. This State cannot go on doing things as usual. We must elect people who have a passion and commitment for rapid development, including the well-being of the people and delivery of this kind of government is Senator Okowa’s vision.

Senator Okowa’s Government will be confident, assertive, and innovative and committed to promoting and defending the interest of the people first.
We may have the oil and other natural resources, but he will place more emphasis on developing the human resource of the State, instead of just focusing on the natural resources. Senator Okowa considers the people’s interest and development must be placed above our politics and natural resources.

Above all, Senator Okowa is prepared to seek solutions from within, and adopt the philosophies and practices that will deal with the various challenges that the State face, and develop ideas to propel our State towards the best that it deserves, and not just the better.’ Senator Ifeanyi Okowa will operate an open government that has integrity in its actions and is really good at managing its information.

These are the foundations upon which government accountability is built and corruption is reduced. Now just to be clear, integrity in Senator Okowa’s context means that an open government follows the rule of law and that it works to establish a culture of integrity amongst its representatives and employees.

This integrity pervades all aspects of an open government which reduces corruption and creates internal accountability, where government holds itself accountable. Senator Okowa will ensure the habit of Information management is enabled so that the information that government collects and creates is available to all. With no information management – or even poor information management, the road stops here with no accountability and very little reduction in corruption.

As a man of high prudence, the strength of mind or spirit enables a man to encounter challenges with firmness, personal bravery and heroism is not the strength of the muscles and bones. Being intelligent is the strongest strength or energy needed in winning any battle of life, a good boxer wins with technicalities not with strength, so most star studded teams can always lose their matches if they don’t have good bench to dole out the expertise that will bring goals.

Senator Okowa is the man with that brain strength which will turn around the fortunes of Delta State for the better. He is a trusted hand, and trust is the foundation of sustainable development. As the world continues to get smaller, our mutual interdependence increases and we all need to be able to mobilize the resources and goodwill from revenues to achieve success. That can only be achieved through gaining the trust of the people. Therefore, the ability to gain the trust of the masses and of all is becoming the key to success.
